I want a good treadmill and all the treadmills sold in stores seem to be garbage so I would like to get a commercial one like a health club would have for my home.

If you are looking for the best treadmills and money is no object, I would recommend checking out the star trac or landice treadmill… They are expensive but they are the best ones out there.

I would recommend you check out http://whenrunninginplace.com, it is a Treadmill and Elliptical Site that takes all the online reviews for Treadmills and Ellipticals, combines them on their site and comes up with their own average rating. You can also see side by side comparisons, and the current pricing for the Star Trac and Landice Treadmills I was talking about. They also have a link to where you can buy one.

Life Fitness makes the number one selling treadmills in health clubs nationwide.

But have you ever considered buying an elliptical instead? They’re better on the joints.

I bought a Proform XP 580 Crosstrainer treadmill from Sears and am quite satisfied with it. I too thought Sears sold junky treadmills until I bought mine. My 280-pound husband (not fat, but a big guy) uses it daily. I bought it on sale for about $600.

You can of course buy a commercial-grade treadmill, but expect to pay well over $2000 for a true "commercial" treadmill. If you have the available money, go for it! You may want to search "commercial fitness equipment" for some options.

Consumer Reports rates Vision Fitness T9200 Simple (non-folding) , $1300 and Epic View 550 (folding) , $1300 as CR Best Buys ~which means the are a good machine for a good price.
